The progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is an inherited eye disorder leading to a degeneration of the photoreceptor cells of the retina. Initially, a loss of function of the rod cells is observed proceeding in night blindness and decreased adaptation of vision. The type A-PRA occurs very rarely. The mutation could not be eliminated form the breed yet and is subject of ongoing research. Therefore, the genetic test could be especially reasonable in the case of a clinical diagnosis of PRA.
