Disease
Juvenile laryngeal paralysis and polyneuropathy or JLPP is a hereditary disease that leads to breathing difficulties when excited or physically stressed, already at an age of around three months. A change in barking voice is also noticeable. With progression of the disease, weakness and coordination problems in the hind limbs will develop, which eventually will extend to the front limbs. Swallowing difficulties will make the puppy prone to choking or pneumonia. This disease cannot be cured and is fatal within a few months after first symptoms are detected.
